How to Measure for Fit

Corporate Life: 1. Skydiving: 0.

ESC ID 1533 / AUD$6,500

There’s a point in skydiving where you stop buying the gear you need and start buying the gear you actually want.

This rig came from that point.

He got into the sport, did the jumps, learned a few things, and progressively ended up with something rather more interesting than where he started: a V3, OP, AAD, all the really desirable bits, and because apparently getting back to earth wasn’t entertaining enough anymore, a Crossfire 3 129.

All the toys. All the fun bits. A properly grown-up little skydiving rig.

And then he made the classic mistake.

He got all corporate.

Work got serious. Spare time disappeared. Jump numbers went the wrong direction and eventually this spent more time waiting to go skydiving than actually falling through the stratosphere.

So it’s time for someone else to play with it.

He’s already declared that when life eventually permits his return, subtlety will be completely abandoned and the next rig is getting BLINGED to within an inch of its life.

Which leaves this one looking for its next victim.

Now, we need to talk about condition.

This is not a closet queen.

It presents perfectly respectably, but it has been used and the photos show it. There is some cosmetic wear, some fuzzing and rubbing around the usual high-contact areas, and a few marks that prove its previous owner occasionally did actually wear the thing rather than standing around the DZ talking about it.

There’s nothing in the photos that makes us want to write a dramatic paragraph about its hard and troubled life. Equally, we’re not going to point a camera at it from six metres away and call it immaculate.

If having the shiniest rig on the DZ matters to you, this probably isn’t your rig.

But if you’ve got a budget to work to and your priorities run more towards getting a Vector, an Optimum, a Vigil and a Crossfire 3 129 than paying extra for something that looks untouched…

Now we’re talking.

It has some miles on the clock.

It also has all the toys.

And we’d take the latter over winning the packing-mat beauty contest any day.
