Cleaner Than Your Mum’s Undies

ESC ID 1564 / AUD$2,800

Some used mains tell you they’ve had a hard life before you’ve even finished pulling them out of the bag.

This Pilot 210 isn’t one of them.

DOM January 2021, serial P1Q-210-21302, and the first thing that jumps out is just how clean the bloody thing is.

Look at the labels. They’re crisp. Look at that enormous white PILOT panel on the bottom skin — whiter than your mum’s undies and showing very little of the grime and general DZ archaeology that normally accumulates on a canopy that’s been dragged around for years.

The fabric tells much the same story.

It’s still got plenty of attitude. New packers are going to hate it. This isn’t some soft, compliant old bedsheet that’s going to lie politely in the deployment bag while you congratulate yourself on your newfound packing skills. There’s still enough life in the fabric that it’s going to want a little technique, persuasion and the occasional swear word.

And then we get to the lines.

Based on what we’re seeing, we’re guesstimating around 150–200 jumps on the canopy. That’s an estimate from condition, not a documented jump count, so treat it accordingly.

The line set is showing use consistent with that sort of number. Again, guesstimating rather than promising, we’d expect roughly another 200–250 jumps before you’re looking at a reline, subject obviously to use, environment, packing, landing areas and how the lines actually progress.

So what have we got?

A 2021 Aerodyne Pilot 210 that appears to have spent considerably more of its life being looked after than being abused.

Crisp labels.

Ridiculously clean white label.

Plenty of coating still evident.

A line set that’s used but has life remaining.

And a canopy that’s still going to make the new packer wonder why everyone keeps telling them packing gets easier.

It does.

Eventually.
